この展覧会は,印象派を代表するモネとルノワールを中心に,彼らの系譜に連なる画家たちの作品を展示することによって,印象派の中に存在する二つの系譜を明らかにしようとするものです。
Impressionism was born in late 19th century in
France. They enjoyed painting outdoors in natural sunlight. Monet, especially,
explored his own world of landscape painting by dividing nature into
light and colors. Renoir, on the other hand, was inspired by bright
light and draw people exquisitely using clear shades and colors.
This exhibition is configured with two schools derived from Monet and
Renoir : Sisley, Pissarro, Seurat and Signac who drew nature; and Lautrec,
Bonnard, Vuillard who painted people. Approximately 80 of their works
form the exhibition, and some of them are being introduced in Japan
for the first time.
