This exhibition
is the first project to trace the descent
of paintings depicting The Three Great
Views of Japan. It will feature the development
of paintings of these three views; from
pieces of the middle ages (before the
idea of The Three Great Views of Japan
was established) to a variety of early
modern works. In addition. the exhibition
includes contemporary Japanese paintings.
Ukiyoe prints and the precious
art works that symbolize shrines and temples
related to these three spots.
While traveling over various visual images
born in different ages and by different
artists, you may enjoy seeking for the
relationship between the people's looking
on three senic places and the expression
on paintings.
